Service Like It “Oughta Be”! The Shoe Box is a family shoe store specializing in selection, customer service, fit, and price. Family owned and operated since 1947. We offer a huge selection of name brand footwear with a wide range of sizes and widths. We are in a small town that is just 20 miles west of Madison, WI. Our Story
The Shoe Box is a trusted, family-owned shoe store proudly located in Black Earth, Wisconsin, serving the greater surrounding area for generations. Our story began in the 1940s when our founder and grandfather recognized a simple but essential need in the community: reliable, high-quality shoe repair. What started as a small repair shop quickly became a cornerstone business built on craftsmanship, honesty, and hard work. In 1947, The Shoe Box was officially established, and by the 1960s, the second generation continued the tradition, carrying forward the same dedication to quality and service that customers had come to rely on.

Went her for the first time with my grandma today after moving to Madison From Waukesha. I gotta say. This place is awesome. I went to look for work boots and HOKA’s. The staff were super friendly. Kyle came up to us and worked with us to help me find some work boots that were comfortable as well as some HOKA’s. 5 stars. I highly recommend this place.

We will always recommend The Shoe Box for my husband. He is very tall, and has a very large foot. He can't find his size shoe anywhere else.
Although, we visit every 2-3 years, we went there to find better shoes, recommended by his podiatrist, specifically mesh gym shoes. My husband had an awesome young salesman, who gave him a ton of suggestions. He knew how it felt to have foot issues. While they didn't have the same foot issues, this salesman certainly exceeded expectations, and went way out of his way to help him out.
He was very satisfied, as usual, with his visit to the Shoe Box. The staff are always helpful and extremely friendly.
